UGANDA

Also called the Pearl of Africa is situated in the North Eastern part of Africa, famous for its gorilla safaris. It boarders Kenya in the East, Rwanda and Tanzania in the South, The Republic of Congo in the West and Sudan in the North. The Pearl of Africa, lies on the Northern shores of Lake Victoria and its land-locked but its also gifted with the Equator that divides the globe into the Northern and Southern Hemisphere and this advantage adds on the country’s beauty. The Northern part of the country is semi-arid except where the Albert- Nile runs through the rest of the country. The main safari attractions are gorilla tracking, bird watching, trekking white water rafting, mountaineering, fishing, cultural experience, boating and canoeing as well as sight seeing. Some of the most visited national parks are; Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth NP, Kibale NP, Murchison Falls NP, Rwenzori NP, Kidepo Valley NP and Semuliki NP.

Religions


Roman Catholics, Protestants, Moslems, Others including Pentecostal which has gained a lot of followers. Traditional beliefs are also important. Average Family income is about US $ 200 per annum

Government:


Republic, The country got its Independence on the 9th of October 1962.

Cultures:


The largest cultural group is the Baganda people, whose kingdom has always been influential in Ugandan affairs. Amongst our ethnic groups are many others that include those in the kingdom of Toro ( with the youngest king in the world), the Banyankole, the Luo, Basoga and Lugbara.

Weather:


The country is mainly covered with a tropical climate which varies according to altitude. During the year the hottest months are from December to February where the temperature reaches 29 Degrees Celsius. The rainy seasons are from April to May and October to November with the wettest month being April.

Always have your passport with a validity period of at least six (6) months before requesting for a visa to Uganda.
